Welcome to our new and improved Paws & Hooves!
We’ve given our magazine a fresh new look for an
enjoyable and uplifting experience with every turn of the
page. We hope you love the new design as much as we do.

We have so many inspiring stories to share. Inside, you’ll
discover how your incredible support enabled the RVC to
give dialysis to poorly pup Marty. We’ve helped more
unusual patients too, like our cover star, Polly the penguin
who needed a CT scan. This state-of-the-art hospital
equipment funded by you, our supporters, helps animals
get the care and treatment they need. Thank you.
As we finish another academic year, we can’t help but
feel proud of the impact of our scholarships, grants and
bursaries. From empowering budding wild animal vets to
supporting veterinary nurses – these initiatives truly make
a difference to students wanting to dedicate their lives to
animals. We also share how the RVC’s pioneering animal
brain bank is helping advance neurological research and
could even help newborn human babies with brain injuries.
Back in the summer, we invited visitors to RVC Boltons Park
Farm for Open Farm Sunday. It was a glorious, hot day,

and it was a joy to see people enjoying the countryside. With
tours of our working farm, the chance to meet farm animals
(there was even a calf born that very morning!) visitors could
chat with our farmer, shepherdess, beekeeper, students, and
staff. We even held a bake sale and a milking competition,
using ‘Pint’, a specialist cow simulator funded by our
wonderful supporters, which raised over £380! Thank you
to everyone who joined us, baked for us and got involved –
we hope to see you all again next year.
