Nutrition forms an integral part of the management of many medical conditions in dogs and cats. There are many therapeutic commercial diets available and sometimes it can be difficult to know which one is right for your patient or how to optimize nutritional management for them.

At the RVC, we are fortunate to have a board-certified veterinary nutritionist as part of our Internal Medicine Team. Our nutritionist helps to provide input for various clinical cases that come through our Internal Medicine Service to ensure that their overall therapeutic management is enhanced. This can vary from helping to select the best therapeutic diet for an uncomplicated case to providing advice and guidance for complicated cases requiring more advanced nutritional support, including a home-cooked diet.
