CLASSNOTES

        Everything comes back down to
        accessibility and opportunity. The
current drive of the profession to
        increase diversity needs to continue;
research of barriers into the veterinary
profession will help this process. And
        during interactions with prospective
students, I like to think that even if
I cannot convince them to join the
profession from that one sitting, I have
still given them an insight they can carry
with them forever, or I could be the
        reason they change their mind.

The WP team at the RVC has grown
and now has the most supportive,
nurturing individuals all with the passion
and willingness to ensure the profession
is promoted for all. The only way is up,
and it is reassuring as a new graduate
vet that the faces I might see attending
EMS placements will be much more
        representative of the UK today.
A big thank you to all that have
supported me on my RVC journey; I
have since started a clinical veterinary
role at a small animal hospital in London.
I am looking forward to developing my
        clinical skills having increased exposure
to a range of cases. I feel that I am
        entering a supportive environment,
        which is reassuring considering the
impact that COVID-19 had on my final
        year experience.

I have hopes of pursuing exotics specialism
in future but will still keep an open mind as
        a new graduate veterinarian!

If you would be interested in getting
involved in Outreach or want to share
with us your RVC journey which, like
Steph, may have started even before
you applied to the RVC, please get in
        touch at alumni@rvc.ac.uk

You can read more about what the
