Staff and student wellbeing at the RVC
Here at the RVC, we take staff and student wellbeing seriously using national wellbeing days to celebrate and offer support to staff and students in a variety of areas.
UNIVERSITY MENTAL HEALTH DAY – 7TH MARCH
This year’s theme was Use Your Voice and the Advice Centre team in the Department of Learning and Wellbeing created several opportunities for students to get involved, including:
Advice to your younger self
A whiteboard campaign asking what advice staff would give to their younger selves.
Use your voice
An opportunity to reflect upon how
we can use our own voices in raising awareness of mental health issues.
The Art Society provided two beautiful paintings, one was displayed in Camden and one in Hawkshead. Students and staff were invited to write on the paintings to explain how they would use their voice to shape the future of mental health.
Music to celebrate the day
The SU Music Society performed two songs at Hawkshead.
This day was a chance for us to reflect upon how as a community, both
individually and together, we can remove the stigma of mental health problems and better support one another by using our voices.
WELLBEING WEEK –
WEEK OF 13TH MAY
The theme of the week was Body Image and this was an opportunity to look at who we are and how we see ourselves. Our Learning and Wellbeing team organised a busy schedule of events
for our staff and students including walks, circuit training and climbing wall sessions at the Sports and Wellbeing
Centre (SAWC), sessions on drugs and alcohol as well as diet and nutrition, mirror decorating, guided relaxation, a careers masterclass and lots more.
Don’t forget to take time to look after yourself, and support your colleagues’ and your own wellbeing.
Your donations through the Alumni Fund support students in wellbeing initiatives and when their finances are causing them stress and worry. Read more about this on page 66.
