Pathology Services
Veterinary pathology services play a vital role in diagnosing diseases in a wide range of animals from farm animals and wildlife to zoo animals and pets. By examining tissues, organs, and bodily fluids to diagnose and understand diseases, it is an essential tool in animal health and public health management
The RVC Pathology team supports both colleagues and external clients for:
Pathology for Clinical Excellence
We provide in-house expertise to our clinical colleagues from our general veterinary practices to our specialist-led animal referral hospitals. We deliver routine and highly specialised diagnostic data, insights and interpretations.
Pathology for Research Excellence
We support and conduct research to better understand the causes and mechanisms of animal diseases. These insights can then lead to new diagnostic tools and treatments.
Supporting Public Health and Disease Surveillance
The expertise we provide can play a vital role in public health by identifying zoonotic diseases (diseases that can spread from animals to humans). Our findings can help inform strategies to prevent diseases spreading.
Supporting One Health
RVC is passionate about One Health (the concept which recognizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health) and our services are applied in a multitude of ways to support our clinicians and our research community
