Mast cell tumour (MCT) appears to be a frequent tumour type in dogs, though there is little published in relation to its frequency in dogs in the UK.

This week, a VetCompass study looking at the prevalence and risk factors for MCTs in dogs attending English primary-care veterinary has been published in Canine Genetics and Epidemiology. The article highlights a clinically significant prevalence of MCT and identifies specific breed types with predisposition to MCT, potentially aiding clinician awareness and facilitating diagnosis.

Canine Genetics and Epidemiology is an Open Access journal, so this article is free to download in full and is now available to view online.
