Meet Mylo: blood donor and marathon runner
“ Maria is running the London Marathon for pets like me, and I’m supporting her training.
“I love running and I love the Animal Care Trust. Lucky for me, Maria decided to combine both and not only do I donate blood to save pets that are really sick, but I also get to support her training for this year’s London Marathon. She definitely has the hardest task.
“I really enjoy giving blood, the team are so kind to me, I know I’m helping other poorly animals and I always get a treat at the end! Maria has to run 26.2 miles with only two legs; I’m lucky because
I have four legs and am much faster than my human!
“Running is so much fun. I’ve been trained really well and I know how to run slightly ahead so that she doesn’t slow me down or get in my way. As soon as my running harness goes on, I know it’s time and I get really excited. Like Maria, I take on extra carbs and liquid before I run and we have a good feed and rest when we get home.
“Maria always runs her fastest times when I’m around, so it’s a shame I can’t be on the start line with her, but I’ll be barking at the television and ready with a big sloppy kiss and some muddy paw prints when she gets back.
“Maria has raised just over £1,000 for the ACT by taking on the London Marathon and I know she can raise more! I’ve challenged her to reach £1,500
by the finish line...well, it has to be a challenge doesn’t it?!”

Our partnership with Burns Pet Nutrition
W e would like to say a big thank you
to Burns Pet Nutrition for supporting the RVC Blood Transfusion Service this past year. At the beginning of this year, they also
very kindly donated 18 cat and dog beds for our retiring blood donors and as you can see from Louis’ face, they’ve been very well received!
Thank you to Burns for all their support! Find out more about Burns Pet Nutrition at www.burnspet.co.uk.
