GOING THE EXTRA MILE...
Alumni help new students settle into the RVC
Rory Cowlam graduated from the RVC as a vet in 2015. He
spent his first 15 months in practice at a 24-hour
hospital and later joined the Neighbourhood Vet in East Dulwich.
In 2017, Rory was confirmed as one of the featured vets on the BBC’s The Pets Factor and since then has also done features on daytime
TV. Rory says, “at the centre of it all is a drive to educate owners and
highlight the big issues we see in the profession”
Recently, Rory has released a book,
The Secret Life of a Vet, talking about the highs and lows of life as a vet. It is currently available to buy on Amazon in Kindle, audio and hardcover copies.
This year, the RVC has been grateful for Rory’s support in helping us with our induction programme for new students.
The start of term has mainly been brought online this year, certainly a very different experience from what many of our alumni have experienced in the past! Rory, along with 2012 RVC alumnus Matt Hogan from Boston, USA, have helped by taking part in Q&A sessions for our new overseas students, who had to quarantine on arrival into the UK and RVC. These sessions have been a huge success and helped to welcome many new students into the RVC community.
Matt Hogan is also one of our overseas network champions for the Boston networks and assists with prospective student recruitment days in the USA.
Thank you to Rory and Matt for their continued support.
