   GENERAL NEWS
Supporting the Present by the Past...
On 19th June we were excited to accept a very special commission from the RVC Graduates Association.
In Eclipse 2017 we wrote about the final chapter of the Association which dissolved in April 2017. The Association has supported the RVC community for over 50 years since 1956, and as
a parting gift commissioned artist Ann Holden to produce a piece of work
to depict the work and support the Association has given the College over the years. Ann Holden qualified as a vet from Cambridge in 1980 and worked
in small animal practice for 20 years. She gained a qualification in medical
art and currently works freelance as a medical editor in addition to undertaking art commissions. Ann also painted the
portrait of Professor Leslie Vaughan which hangs above the operating theatre suite, named in his memory, at the RVC’s Queen Mother Hospital for Animals.
Professor Stephen May, RVC Senior Vice Principal, received the artwork on behalf of the College at a presentation by members of the Graduates Association Council.
We are grateful to the Association for all their support. This will be a lasting legacy and a reminder to current students, staff and alumni of the great work they have carried out to support our students. Funds donated by the Graduates Association still continue to benefit our current students by awarding bursaries to those carrying
out EMS placements.
For anyone wishing to view the painting, it is currently hanging in the Social Learning Space on the first floor of the Eclipse building on the Hawkshead Campus.
