London Centre for Neglected Tropical Disease Research
The RVC has become a member of the London Centre for Neglected Tropical Disease Research (LCNTDR), which is joint initiative of Imperial College London, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and the Natural History Museum.
The LCNTDR is an innovative research collaboration bringing together leading experts to tackle neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) which harm the lives of some of the poorest people in the world. The group undertakes cutting-edge research to build the evidence base around the design, implementation and evaluation of NTD control and elimination programmes.
The RVC is a leading veterinary school with well-established research ventures such as the Centre for Emerging, Endemic and Exotic Diseases (CEEED). The RVC houses world experts in veterinary medicine and infectious disease control, including NTDs.
The LCNTDR and the RVC aim to collaborate on future NTD control research using their combined expertise in animal and human health. Key collaborative research activities will promote the integration of empirical field parasitological and state-of-the-art genomic research with quantitative and conceptual frameworks. This will take place within a OneHealth paradigm, which is concerned with links between animal health and human health and well-being.
