Gina qualified as a veterinary nurse in Northern Ireland in 2008, before earning her Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing from Myerscough College in 2010. Gina joined the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals as the Senior Medicine Nurse in 2011 and found her passion in medical nursing and teaching.

In 2015, Gina received the BSAVA Nurse Abstract Award for her work on complications associated with intravenous catheter placement. She was promoted to Head Medicine Nurse at the Royal Veterinary Colleges Queen Mother hospital for Animals (QMHA) in 2016. Gina completed a postgraduate certificate in Veterinary education in 2019, and then a postgraduate diploma in Veterinary education in 2022. Gina is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Veterinary education.

In 2023 Gina helped to create the Cert AVN in Medical Nursing and joined the RVC school of Veterinary nursing as a teaching fellow and module leader.  Gina regularly speaks at conferences and shares her knowledge in any way she can, to advance the profession, and remains a head nurse alongside module leader with a special interest in endocrine nursing.

Gina is the Head Medicine nurse at the QMHA and currently leads a team of 24 medicine nurses caring for canine and feline patients. Gina and the team look after cases  with a range of medical conditions, as well as run a Radioactive Iodine unit and a busy endoscopy suite. The team at the QMHA play a large role teaching students as they pass through the hospital on their rotations, while studying the BVetMed and BSc Vet nursing.
