Catherine qualified and graduated as a Veterinary Nurse in 2005 after completing the Veterinary Nursing degree course at Middlesex University run in conjunction with the Royal Veterinary College and the College of Animal Welfare gaining her BSc honours degree. During her training she spent placements at a range of first opinion practices as well as at a charity practice and a referral hospital. After graduating she spent time in general practice and lecturing in Veterinary Nursing. Catherine came back to the RVC in 2007 to work as an RVN in the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals where she was predominantly based in theatre, surgery wards, neurology and radiography. In 2008 she moved into her current role to oversee the student veterinary nurses on placement in the QMH during their veterinary nursing course at the RVC. She is responsible for all the student veterinary nurses when they are on placement in the QMH – this includes organizing their rotas, supporting them progressing with and completing their day one practical skills (Nursing Progress Log) and ensuring the teams they are working with are supported too whilst the student veterinary nurses are working with them. She has recently taken on supporting the BSAH with their student veterinary nurses too. Catherine teaches practical skills during the taught modules of the course and also dog handling to both first year veterinary nursing and BVetMed students. Catherine is an examiner for RVC OSCE and DOPS exams for both the veterinary nursing and BVetMed courses.
